Choosing your own home can be stressful as there are so many things to consider. Location, design, size and quality are just a few of the items on the list. One thing you should consider and which is just as important, is choosing the condo builder. It is vital to do your research well as there are thousands of builders out there and it is mind boggling to choose the right one for you.
A good place to start is the internet. Much information is basically at your fingertips. By keying in the builder's name, you may be surprised how much information you can extract online. You can find out how long the builder has been in business, how many building projects it has completed, how many current projects are ongoing, what kind of trendy finishes it is using, what kind of amenities it is including, or what is it's speciality. More importantly, what makes this builder different from the rest?
Another good source of information is the builder's sales centers, show homes and model units. By speaking to the staff and asking detailed questions, nothing beats the in-person experience.
After reading up online and an actual personal visit to the builder's show centers, it is time to get an unbiased opinion. The way to do this is to visit a finished complex, talk to residents and ask for their overall impressions and personal opinions. You may even ask if it is really necessary to have a sales agent for their purchase, or if direct inhouse sales will do the job just as well. Do not be afraid to ask how they rate the after-sales service and if they would buy from the same builder again. Nothing beats hearing it right from the horse's mouth.
